ABOUT US:
As children we both grew up with rather large families and a
variety of pets, such as: dogs, cats, horses, a skunk, rabbits, ducks etc. In
1983 we started our family together with Beau and Sheena two golden retriever
puppies. They stole our hearts and fit perfectly into our active
lifestyle. Years later we had a child of our own and needless to say Beau &
Sheena were marvelous companions to our new addition.
One Christmas, by accident we realized that we were going to be grandparents
to a litter of Golden puppies. How wonderful it was experiencing the birth of 9
little puppies. During this time we did extensive research on breeding and
whelping golden’s.
Now 26 years later we are striving to breed a Golden Retriever not only for
its loyalty and good nature, but for the desired characteristics which are:
intelligence, trainability, beauty, gentleness, hunting and track ability.
Here at Amberlake all of our dogs are an important part of our family
therefore we only have a few dogs that live in our home. The puppies are whelped
in our house and are a focal point of our family until we find the perfect
“FOREVER” home for our little ones. We will only have one to two litters of
puppies a year. We are located in Melbourne, Florida and own a nice piece of
property with plenty of room for our dogs to play and exercise.
Through dedication, our goal is breeding sound, healthy dogs
that can compete in all venues or just be cherished as a family pet. We are very
proud of our small and successful breeding program. Our dogs all have OFA hip
and elbow clearances, current eye clearances (CERF) and cardiac clearances done
by veterinary cardiologists. We follow the GRCA code of Ethics.
We have come to the conclusion that Golden Retrievers are a breed to be
marveled at. Where else can you find a dog that gets along with everyone, is as
gentle as a lamb, adapts to every mood, and can spend the day out in the field
doing what it was bred to do? Once you have owned a Golden Retriever you will
then know what a true friend really is.
